After six months of learning from Carolyn at The Yoga Studio, my home practice has been
revitalized, my flexibility and strength have increased, and I am more aware than ever of
my posture and breath throughout the day. This has resulted in greater balance,
attentiveness, and well-being in all areas of my life. Beyond being grateful for this opportunity
to nurture myself, I appreciate the warm community created by the instructors and students who learn together at the studio.

Yoga has provided me with a life long focus. The routine on a daily basis is a continuous way to pause and go on. After 26 years it has enabled me to overcome colon cancer and some of life's bumps. It is what it is.

I took my first yoga class approximately 5 years ago when I was recovering from a difficult life experience. I was amazed at how yoga nurtured my body and mind together to center and focus myself in a whole new direction. Yoga has continued to enable my physical and spiritual growth as well as a provide me with a healing process that traditional medicine could not. Having The Yoga Studio in my neighborhood as well as being a student of their highly trained instructors will definitely keep me dedicated to continuing my practice and reaping its benefits.

I really enjoy the Yoga Studio, especially Carolyn's class. I am not the most consistent of practitioners, but Carolyn and the Yoga Studio help me by showing the correct way to do the poses, and by creating a warm and friendly environment in which to practice. And I feel so much better when I practice. Thanks so much!

The old adage “you are as young as your spine is flexible” was my initial motivation to practice yoga. Although I now look to yoga for many subtle and intangible benefits, increased flexibility and a heightened sense of well-being keep me committed. I’m very grateful to the Yoga Studio for classes that carefully challenge and refresh my practice.

Yoga - one of the roots of a well balanced life.
Yoga reminds me that is all right to not be in the fast lane, to take monents during the day to "check in" and to be more mindful of the body we live in. Don't wait for retirement to do yoga: build strength now for your future body. Health now!

When I have trouble
balancing the demands of deadlines and book production with
school visits, consulting work and the needs of my family,
I head to othe Yoga Studio. It has become an essential way
to stay strong and grounded in a culture that seems far too
overscheduled. I have taken classes in many different venues
and the Yoga Studio is my favorite!

For me, yoga is an opportunity to calm the mind and refresh the spirit while strengthening the body. Since recovering from back surgery, I have gained muscular flexibility thanks to yoga. Carolyn and her staff are wise and experienced, adjusting the poses on an individual basis in order to achieve the objective. The breathing exercises have come in handy for my horn playing in the symphony, too.

I began my yoga practice in 2002, after a lengthy illness and failure of “western medicine” to cure my ailments. Yoga, along with a change in diet and increased prayer and meditation, has helped me heal. I appreciate hatha yoga and the instructors at The Yoga Studio in helping me to focus and bring my body, mind and spirit closer to balance.

I look forward to being an eternal student of yoga. I felt that it would be a permanent part of my life after my first class. Yoga goes beyond the mat: I use the lessons I have learned at the yoga studio every day and in every corner of my life.

I started doing yoga over a year ago to try to eliminate
some old sports injuries from skiing. The experienced instructors at the Yoga Studio are helping me to do stretching correctly so I will stay flexible and be able to do my sports at
a high level for many years to come.

Yoga at the Yoga Studio has given me tremendous personal benefits over the last 25 years. Weekly yoga classes and personal practice helps me
handle business stress, sleep when traveling and aging inflexibility. A
yoga practice is the most complete mental and physical activity I found
for good health.

I have been studying at The Yoga Studio for several years and what I have learned from Carolyn and the highly skilled teachers on her staff
has been an invaluable tool for my own personal growth. The Iyengar
method that they teach is the right method for me. It focuses on precise
alignment and uses props so there is less risk of injury. It also
connects both the body and mind through its holistic approach and
integration of all the limbs of Yoga.

Yoga is just as much a necessary part of my life as water, food and air!! I don’t feel complete without it! And my body, mind and heart let me know when I am not in balance. Yoga is always the remedy!

"During the 25 years I have been practicing yoga, I have enjoyed the health and mindfulness that it brings to my life. I have found it's not just a lot of movements and held positions creating a bit of exercise but a real system that affects how I live my life and how life affects me. In all of the years I have taken classes from Carolyn, I have always been amazed that year after year she has been able to take me deeper into the philosophy behind yoga while helping me correct and fine-tune the movements leading into each stance and to appreciate the subtleties of each pose. She has deepened her own practice by continued study and concentrated effort, and I continue to be grateful for what this has brought to my understanding and practice of yoga."

"Since a car accident in my mid-twenties in which I injured my back I have been practicing yoga. At first it was simply to stay limber but after a while I found a new source of strength through which to uncover more of myself. This has been yoga's gift to me and it has been the backbone of my life. I recently discovered the Yoga Studio and love the mastery and compassion I found there. This is a safe place to explore your limits and expand your boundaries."

"I come to the Yoga Studio because it's a place where I can continually come back to myself and find myself. The physical work has a spiritual context and a community context- balancing, centering, opening. It's a kind of retreat, and it's also about moving 'toward' toward one's self, toward each other."

"Yoga is an anchor for my body and mind. Learning from Carolyn Heines has been a wonderful journey since she truly is a Yoga Guru in Grand Rapids.
